Going Down Slow . . .

Man, you know I done enjoyed things that kings and queens will never have. In fact, kings and queens can never get. And they don’t even know about. And good times, mmmmm-hmmmm.

I have had my fun, if I never get well no more.
I have had my fun, if I never get well no more.
All my health is failin on me, oh yes, I’m goin down slow.

Now looka here, I did not say I was a millionaire. But, I said I have spent more money than a millionaire. Cause if I had a kept all the money that I already spent, I woulda been a millionaire a long time ago. And women, great drooblin moobilie.

Please, write my mama, tell her the shape I’m in.
Please, write my old mother, tell her the shape I’m in.
Tell her to pray for me, forgive me for my sin.

- Willie Dixon (1915 – 1992)

Sell Me A Coat . . .

Stacey and I helped Brooke (seen below wearing one of her belts) and her husband Bill sell clothing from the Feral Artery line at a booth in the Capsule street fair in San Francisco.

A good time was had by all but the winds were VERY high . . . I hadn’t been blown in an alley in years.

An experiment . . .

Suicide may also be regarded as an experiment—a question which man puts to Nature, trying to force her to answer. The question is this: What change will death produce in a man’s existence and in his insight into the nature of things? It is a clumsy experiment to make; for it involves the destruction of the very consciousness which puts the question and awaits the answer.

Once I Had A Sweetheart . . .

A slave to my habits . . .

“I have stopped smoking now and then, for a few months at a time, but it was not on principle, it was only to show off; it was to pulverize those critics who said I was a slave to my habits and couldn’t break my bonds”.

The loss of a Great One . . .

Clancy Ross will be missed . . .

He was a true “great” . . . Both a local (S.F. Bay Area) and an international hero.

Vain . . .

The vain man does not wish so much to be prominent as to feel himself prominent; he therefore disdains none of the expedients for self-deception and self-outwitting. It is not the opinion of others that he sets his heart on, but his opinion of their opinion.

- Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

A blurred self-portrait taken this morning . . . Vainly trying to fight the aging process . . . In the last 14 weeks I have dropped about 20 to 25 pounds (hard to tell on my 1940s era bathroom scale).
